Pastel Floral First Birthday Session | Bright and Modern Birthday Photographer
One of the best parts of my job is being able to watch my clients’ families grow. This is especially true when I capture newborn photos for a family and then have the opportunity to capture the first birthday milestone session for them as well. It is such a pleasure to be able to see how baby has grown over that past year and I also love getting the opportunity to work with the family again. The rapport that I develop with my repeat clients allows me to capture natural images of their family for them.
I had the pleasure of working with the Q family again last week. I photographed their son for his first birthday session a few years ago. I also had the honor of photographing their daughter, Miss H, last year when they came to my studio for a family newborn session. When mom contacted me in April to set up an appointment for birthday portraits, I could not believe that a year had already gone by. I was thrilled to be able to work with this awesome family again.
Mom sent me images of the outfits in which she would be dressing Miss H and I knew that I needed to incorporate some florals into this session. I decided that I would make paper florals for this particular set and create a collage of pale pink paper flowers to use as the backdrop. As always, I wanted the set to be understated, yet still have celebratory feel to it. There was a steep learning curve to create those paper flowers and it took me quite some time, but it was worth the effort. I really love crafting and don’t get to do it as often as I would like. I always find it relaxing to create and design sets to use for my portrait sessions in the studio.
Miss H was a pleasure to photograph and she was happy as could be. She didn’t quite like the cake, but we still managed to get some awesome shots of her with a big smile on her face. I really love her gallery of images. Here are a few of my favorites from her cake smash session.
