Bohemian Newborn Studio Session

Natural and Bohemian Photography Studio

I am in the process of renovating my photography studio. I have made some minor changes to the space to give the studio a more modern, beachy and bohemian look. I have added furnishings and decor that have a lot of texture and will provide visual interest to the images I take in the space.

Accent pieces such as my new rattan arm chair and velvet sofa, both provide a comfy space for my clients to relax, but I also incorporate these furnishings into my studio lifestyle newborn sessions, which are geared towards capturing families interacting with their baby.

Another key design element is the use of textures, such as macrame pillows, the chenille bedding, and faux fur side table and blankets. Not only do these items beautifully decorate the space, but they add dimension and depth to the photos I take in the studio.

My next step in remodeling the studio, will be to paint and distress my wood pallet accent wall. Although I love the fact that I used real pallets to create the wall, I want to brighten the space and make the wall have more personality. I am debating between painting it a distressed white or going with an array of colors. I can’t quite decide, so I am waiting until I feel certain about my choice to proceed.

Newborn Family Sessions in the Redesigned Space

I recently photographed an absolutely gorgeous family in my reimagined studio. Mom dressed the whole family in outfits I suggested through our wardrobe consultation. I absolutely love the way her clothing palette looks with the set. Her stunning dress is from Vici, which is one of my favorite vendors for affordable dresses for women.

During my family newborn sessions, I try to emulate that which I would do during an in home lifestyle session. I capture the family together with baby on sets that look polished, yet natural. I want the images to feel like you are hanging out in a beautiful space in your own home. I want you to feel comfortable during the session and always do my best to make you all feel at home, especially when traveling to the studio with toddler aged children.

Classic and Natural Newborn Portraits

Even though most of the session is centered on capturing family photos, I do take the time to also capture beautiful portraits of your little one on one of my hand made backdrops. I have recently added a white wood backdrop to my wood collection and will be adding some other distressed colors soon. I do not overly prop baby for these photos and instead focus on capturing the beauty of your baby in a classic and beautiful manner. I often incorporate florals, flokatis, chunky knits, and lace into the frame for these photos, but I always make sure that I don’t over do it and keep things simple. I base the design of the set on the questionnaire my clients complete prior to the session and I am always happy to incorporate personal items, like the adorable surfboard sign my recent client brought in.

Here are a few images from this stunning family’s session.
