A Summer Solstice Family Beach Session
Well folks, Summer is officially here and I am ready for it. I photographed this amazing family last year at the beach on one of the hottest evenings of Summer. I was thrilled to photograph them again this year for a sunset family session that took place on the Summer Solstice. The weather was not quite as balmy for this session, but we still had a gorgeous weather that was perfect for family photos on the beach.
I wanted to mix things up for this family, so I chose an alternate beach location to ensure that their images would have a different look. I also styled and coordinated their wardrobe so their images would have an overall different aesthetic. Mom chose a Joyfolie dress from my client closet and it looked awesome on her. After she chose her outfit, I was able to curate outfits for the rest of the family and we went with an earth toned palette, which I think looks amazing for a beach session. I found the remainder of the family’s wardrobe at Old Navy and Gap. Target is always a good option as well. I try my best to make the stying side of things as easy as possible for clients, so I usually suggest vendors that are affordable and easy to shop from.
I love working with this family. They are so much fun to work with and they are naturally loving and affectionate with one another. The kids are absolute cuties with vibrant and free spirited personalities. They laughed throughout the session and it was simply contagious. I just love the interactive images of them playing together in the water.
I made sure to capture a lot of cuddly images during this family beach photo session. Those interactive cuddly images are my favorite to capture, especially with children under five. That time goes by so fast and you will want to remember those days when they were eager to snuggle up to you. Thankfully, these two little ones didn’t need much coaxing to give mama a snuggle or two.
There is lots of movement, activity and interaction during a photo session involving toddlers. This helps o keep the kids engaged throughout the session. I also like when kids explore and play on their own. Sometimes parents get nervous that their children are not cooperating, but I actually prefer this activity. It allows for beautiful and connected photos. I always have a very clear plan in my head, so don’t stress about it. I promise I am capturing plenty of beautiful images for you without disrupting the fun.
As you can see from this collection of images, the family had a blast and I was able to capture some really epic moments for them. Here are a few of my favorite captures for the day. I still have one or two spots left for Summer family sessions, if you are interested, contact me.
