September Nights on the Beach | Merrick Family Photographer
It is Labor Day weekend and Summer is winding down, but in Long Beach, September is the absolute best time of year. After this weekend, crowds will dissipate, the weather cools off a bit, and the sunsets change in color and intensity.
I shot my first sunset family session of the month Friday evening and although the beach was a bit more crowded than usual, the session was amazing. We had the most gorgeous and moderate weather, the water was warm, and the colors of the sun and sky were constantly changing in hue and color. Best of all, I got to photograph one of the sweetest families I have met. I am so lucky to work with such awesome clients.
When Mom first contacted me about a session, she wanted to wait until little one was a little older to schedule the session. The baby is almost fourteen months old, so he was the perfect age for this type of family session. He was absolutely adorable and I have so many pics of him laughing. I love capturing those images so I can document all of those new teeth that have grown in. I also like to get lots of cuddling images of the parents with babies at that age.
With babies that young, my session flow can seem a bit haphazard because I don’t go all of the posing in a linear order, instead I follow the baby’s lead. I have to work fast with toddlers because they often don’t like to sit still for long and that is fine with me. So although I am moving from grouping to grouping and It may seem like I am not capturing any good shots, but I promise, I really am. You have to keep the session interesting for little ones, so that means moving from pose to pose and varying the locations on the beach.
Here are a few of my favorites from the session. If you would like more information about a session or would like to book a session, contact me.
